In hire rate: $15.38 - $16.50 an hour

 This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, cylinders, keys, and door closers of various types. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: replacing locks and cylinders as routine maintenance; replacing/repairing door closers and locking hardware; cutting keys and re-key cylinders; responding to emergencies outside of normal working hours; other duties assigned. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Must also possess the ability to cut keys, troubleshoot locks, cylinders and door closers and make appropriate repairs. Candidates must be able to repair and replace other locking hardware. Must also have ability to quickly learn new computer applications. Candidates must possess a strong attention to detail. Must also be able to maintain a professional attitude with confidential information and situations.

Purpose of position: To effectively manage and provide leadership for Landscape Services, Recycling and Sustainability, Customer Relations and Communications, and manage special programs for the Director.

Essential functions: Directly supervise Managers of Landscape, Recycling & Sustainability, Customer Relations & Communications, & Special Programs in the planning, direction, & coordination of work. Supervise four managers in the day-to-day operations of Facilities Services activities. Guide and support Managers in the development of goals and long-range plans for cost effective and quality-oriented service delivery to campus. Write and implement strategies for the achievement of goals and long-range plans for cost effective and quality-oriented service delivery to enhance the teaching, research, and public service functions of the institution. Provide all aspects of customer service, including continuous quality improvement, customer feedback and response, and proactive customer outreach. Develop service standards and metrics. Measure performance against service standards. Create, monitor, and manage operational budget of $5.5 million and approximately 160 employees. Manage financial and material resources including determination of requirements and prioritization of needs. Maintain highly trained & motivated staff. Plan & manage staff development including training, evaluation systems, support, discipline, & counseling. Marginal/Incidental functions: Special projects in support of Facilities Services as assigned by the Director.

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration or related field. Seven years progressive experience in senior-level management in a medium to large size physical plant or facilities management organization. Experience directly supervising multiple first-line managers of diverse facilities management functions. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Business Administration or related field. Experience in a University physical plant or facilities administration. Ten years experience in senior-level management in a physical plant or facilities management organization. Experience supervising Landscape, Customer Relations/Communications, Recycling and Sustainability (transportation (moving), surplus property, and furniture shop) or related facilities services operations. Experience creating and overseeing budgets. Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to effectively relate to personnel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with University administrators, deans, faculty, and staff in providing good client/customer service to the University community. Purpose of position: Plan, organize, schedule, & direct UT recycling program & CPFM sustainability effort. Work cooperatively with CPFM Departments & university personnel in carrying out the mission of the recycling program and in furthering sustainability.

Director of Facilities Maintenance

Tarleton State University is seeking a Director of Facilities Maintenance.  This position is responsible for directing, planning, administering, and coordinating University Facilities Maintenance operations which includes all buildings and grounds associated with the University as well as remote campus locations.  This position supervises overall operation and activities of Facilities Maintenance and coordinates all Physical Plant operations with other University departments while providing excellent customer service.

Tarleton State University, founded in 1899, is a four-year public institution which is a member of the Texas A&M University System.  This 165-Acre Campus is located in Stephenville, Texas, a city of approximately 16,000 and is located seventy miles southwest of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  Tarleton offers an extensive range of programs where students can pursue any of 90 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The Director provides leadership to Facilities Maintenance through actions and decisions.    Minimum Requirements:  Bachelors degree in engineering, architecture, business or equivalent degree and 8 years of facilities management experience.

A Master’s degree and five years of management experience in a higher education facilities maintenance environment is preferred.

The Financial Officer 2 is responsible for managing the overall financial responsibilities and planning for Campus Planning and Plant Operations (CPPO) and reports to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of CPPO.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: preparing, and tracking budget; maintaining awareness of CPPO operations and working with Directors to provide monthly forecasts on budget performance including responsibility for internal auditing of all aspects of CPPO financial performance and working with AVP to implement/adjust appropriate financial controls; managing year-end financial reporting and closing responsibilities of CPPO; providing guidance and advice of the selection, ongoing maintenance, and planned upgrades for computerized maintenance management and other facilities related software applications; assisting Directors in providing guidance and training for managers and coordinators regarding their financial responsibilities; providing financial guidance and consultation to the Directors, managers, and coordinators.

A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance. An advanced degree and/or CPA certification is preferred.

A minimum of five years accounting experience (e.g., tracking actual-to-budgeted performance, budget preparation, journal entries, and review and processing of invoices from contractors, vendors, professional consultants, etc.) is required.

Experience handling moderately to highly complex accounting responsibilities for an accounting firm, a college or university, a facilities management organization, a design firm, or a construction contractor is preferred. 

Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills due to heavy interaction with a wide range of SMU constituents and various outside consultants, vendors, and contractors. Must also be familiar and have a working knowledge of a variety of accounting financial concepts, practices, and procedures. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, sort, and classify operational and financial information. Must also possess strong problem solving skills with the ability to independently seek solutions and devise recommendations. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. Candidates must be able to learn new applications and become proficient in a short period of time. Experience working with FAMIS, PeopleSoft, and/or Kronos timekeeping is preferred.
